The barns

These are the barns i work at, the pictures taken on different days obviously, considering the lower photo was taken during a rainy day and the top photo was on a sunny day. For that matter, the first photo was taken back in July, and i only started working at the smaller barn a few weeks ago.

Creekside Equicenter, the large white barn, houses 24 stalls, an indoor arena, a wash rack, tack room, lounge, feed room, bathroom, hot and cold water in the shower stall, and has a very high ceiling. The stalls are of European style of their bars and design, and are colored green. There are 4 large pastures, mostly dirt, and hay is thrown out in the morning. An outdoor arena that also holds a hunter/jump course and the barn also hosts shows now and then.

My new barn, the red one, is owned by my employer, who also happens to be my cat's veterinarian, who i met at the first farm i ever worked on. In July, a year before i worked at Creekside, my previous employer moved across town, and being to far away for me to follow, i went job hunting. Due to a surgery that kept me down for a while, it wasn't until January of 2014 that i went looking for another job and eventually came to find Creekside, where i work 3 days a week. Occasionally i work weekends as well, and during the summer i worked Saturday, but then the school year started and now weekends i do only when asked.

My vet's barn isn't a premiere stable that boards and trains and gives lessons. There are about 8 stalls that open out in the back to a very large pasture that is divided by fencing to certain areas. It's surrounded by protected forests, and is a mixture between dirt and grass. It's far smaller than Creekside, but then again, it's not the same kind of barn.

I love working at both barns, however, and very conveniently, i work at both on the same days. I go to creekside first, and on my way home, my route takes me right to the next barn, which i stop at, clean, and then continue on my way home afterward. It's worked out really well, and although i'm very tired upon arriving home and can often barely drag myself through a shower, i feel content and definitely grateful to have two such great jobs.
